COCOPEAT

Cocopeat is a multi purpose growing medium made out of coconut husk. The fibrous coconut husk is pre washed, machine dried, sieved and made free from sand and other contaminations such as animal and plant residue. Cocopeat is a very good alternative to traditional peat moss and Rock wool. Its air filled porosity and high water holding capacity makes it, an ideal growing medium for the plant crops. It is 100% organic and eco friendly, free from soil borne pathogen and weed. It has a pH of 5.7 – 6.5 ,EC level <1 mS/cm Which is ideal for plant growth.

Features:

• Cocopeat can be used in seed starting mixes, bedding plants, planters, soil mixes, gardens, container plants. Anywhere you would use peat moss. The properties of Cocopeat make it resistant to bacterial and fungal growth.

• Cocopeat holds water rather than shedding it like traditional peat does! It holds 8-9 times it's weight in water. So reduces frequency of irrigation.

• Cocopeat has the ability to store and release nutrient to plants for extended periods of time. It also has great oxygenation properties which is important for healthy root development.

• It has a pH of 5.0-6.8 which is neutral to slightly acidic. This makes it great for alkaline garden soils.

• Easy to use! Just put your compressed Cocopeat brick in a container, add 4 quarts of warm water and let it sit until the water is absorbed, fluff it up and you are ready to use Coco Peat!

• Vermiculture: Coco peat makes a great bedding material for worm bins! It's actually good for them and increases worm growth by 25%.

• Cocopeat is very slow to disintegrate, whereas peat breaks down within two years after application.Cocopeat only begins to break down when it is 10 years old.

Benefits

• Add value to potting mixes

By adding 10% to 50% Cocopeat to Potting Mixes the value of these mixes are markedly increased, due to the fact that the mixes will hold more water and grow much healthier plants. Mixes containing Cocopeat is ideal for higher value crops such as potted colour, tube stock production, and for premium nursery stock.

• Produce healthier plants

Mixes containing Cocopeat produces more fibrous and much stronger root growth in all potted plants.

• Plants require less watering and less frequent fertilising

Plants grown in mixes containing Cocopeat requires less watering due to Cocopeat High Water Holding capacity (70%). Cocopeat has advantages over peat in potting mixes. Re-wetting is not a problem, it has superior Air Filled Porosity (19%) and better water holding ability than most peats. Better water holding means less frequent watering.

• Produce higher quality stock

Mixes containing Cocopeat produces high quality, well-grown plants of excellent and uniform appearance. It provides for easy care in long-term display situations, and plants that have a good 'shelf-life' in retail outlets.
